Design by Christina Strand

With a uniquely international perspective, Christina’s designs embody the ideals of Scandinavian minimalism while imparting a fresh point of view into today's global reality. Christina's design is logical, humane and long-lasting. There is always a good reason for her design decisions and the user is always the focal point. Christina investigates and works conceptually on many levels, including sketching ideas on the computer, prototyping and 1:1 model making.

Christina´s search for materials, boundaries and methods has led to many unique projects, such as the Rex and Etiquette. Christina's furniture is simple and yet it has a strong identity. Behind her design there is often an extra element, a story or a positive surprise.

Christina has a strong academic grounding and teaches design in USA, Denmark, and Japan. In 2015, Christina added an International Master in Leadership Innovation (LAICS) to her CV. Christina has been a board member of The Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition (SE) since 2015. In 2021, she was appointed as a representative for the Danish Arts Foundation board of representatives.

Christina Strand boasts a long career working with brands such as Carl Hansen & Søn, Four Design, Fredericia Furniture, Naver Collection and Cane-line.

Although most of Christina’s work is devoted to Strand + Hvass, she maintains time to experiment and design furniture in her own name. Most of her individual works are unique designs for exhibitions.
